Welcome to MIDI Karaoke! You can get started by pressing the Song Select button to select a sample song or import a MIDI file. After selecting a song, use the Play button to begin.
Press the Record Button before starting a song if you'd like to save a recording of your peformance. MIDI Karaoke works best with headphones/earbuds, so your singing can be heard clearly over the music.
Wherever you see an i icon, you can click for more information. Check out our YouTube channel for more help.
After selecting a song, it will be automatically configured to the extent possible. However, if you wish to transpose the song to better fit your vocal range or adjust which MIDI track(s) to sing, you can open the song configuration menu by pressing the Configuration Button (second button).
If you notice your singing appears slightly out-of-sync with the game, you might need to calibrate your microphone's delay. You can do this in the settings by pressing the "Cal" Button. There are also settings to configure vocal recording effects, camera recording, two player mode and more. You can read more about each setting by clicking the i icons on the settings page.
MIDI files contain multiple instrument tracks. A good-quality MIDI file will have one track dedicated to the vocal melody, but it isn't always clear which track this is. After selecting a song, the MIDI file is analyzed to find the track which is most likely the vocal melody.
In cases where the wrong track is selected, you can open the song configuration page (second button) and select the track(s) you wish to sing. The tracks are ordered by how likely they are to be the vocal track. To help you find the right track, each one displays its vocal range and the percentage of the song it is active for.
If you aren't sure, you can select multiple tracks, which display in different colors. Then when you play the song, you can try to see which color track matches the vocal melody. Any configuration changes you make will be saved for the next time you load that song.
Here are a couple of good websites for finding MIDI files:
